Meet Martin!

Holds a BSc (Hons) degree from Salford University, is a Chartered Mathematician and a Fellow of the Institute of Mathematics.

SPE Distinguished Lecturer in 2007, 2013 and again in 2018, he is a Distinguished Member of the SPE and received the SPE Completions Optimization and Technology Award for the SPE GCS in 2015. He is a contributing editor of the JPT, a Director of the SPE HFTS and continues to serve on multiple SPE Committees, including SPE HFTC and IHFTC.

He has specialised in unconventional resources and fracturing in tectonic and HPHT environments. During his career he has been responsible for the implementation of numerous intervention campaigns, pilots and exploration and appraisal programmes.

Meet Alistair!

I have worked as an Operations and Wellsite Geologist since June 2008 and to date have worked on over 100 wells and sidetracks in this role for clients ranging from small companies operating their first well to Supermajors like ExxonMobil.

Over the course of my career I’ve been involved in a wide range of wells in exploration, development and production drilling in North West European in basins from the UK Central North Sea to the Barents.

During these campaigns I’ve utilised techniques such active geosteering with deep (or even ahead-of-bit) resistivity reservoir mapping, extended leak-off testing, drilling with wired pipe, wireline fluid sampling, coring and sidewall coring, extended reach drilling, XRD mineralogical analysis, biostratigraphic steering and Managed Pressure Drilling in conventional and HTHP wells.

These projects have covered a variety of geological environments including classical Brent fluivo-deltaic clastic reservoirs, Triassic conglomerates, Cretaceous chalks, fractured basement, deep water turbidites, and injected/remobilised sands and the UK’s first horizontal shale well.

As Discipline Lead for Geo-Operations at THREE60 Energy I’m responsible for leading and refining our comprehensive subsurface operations support service which seeks to provide our clients with a bespoke, fully-integrated team-based approach where we can not only participate in but take stewardship and responsibility for the projects we’re assigned to.
